Reminders before Your Facelift Surgery

When you have talked to your facelift surgeon and agreed on the cost, there are some things that you need to be reminded about while waiting for your scheduled facelift. Here are some of the most important:
- Stop smoking or avoid second-hand smoke because they disturb the normal circulation of the blood which can have an effect during the facelift procedure.
- Don’t take aspirin or any kind of medication without asking your surgeon if they will not be harmful to you once you have your facelift. Many prescription and over-the-counter drugs increase the density of your blood which increases the chance of heavy bleeding during the operation.
- If you have very short hair, take time to grow them so that people will not notice the incision in the hairline after your facelift surgery. The incision is done in the front upper forehead and extends near the ear to the back of the ear. Growing your hair to cover these areas is a good idea so people won’t have to ask what those lines are and you don’t have to explain.
- If you are planning to dye, put cellophane on, curl or straighten your hair, you have to do it before the surgery because you cannot put any chemicals on your hair one to two months after the facelift operation. Those hair maintenance services all apply chemicals on your hair and are very harmful to the incisions so do away with them after the surgery.
- Since you’ll have incision after the facelift procedure, arrange in advance how you’re going back home after the operation. Do not drive your car after the operation. Ask someone to drive you home to avoid excessive bleeding.
Although a facelift procedure is safe and has very minimal side effect, you should still make sure that you plan your operation in advance taking heed of these reminders so that you’ll avoid any inconveniences and complications.
